I am sharing how to make a cross stitch garland that you can hang up and decorate your home.
I stitched one for Christmas but you can use different mini patterns to adapt this to your needs.
You will need:
- Stitched mini squares of fabric (aida or evenweave)
- Scissors
- Ribbon or pom pom trim (appox. 180cm long)
- Glue gun or fabric glue
Step 1:
Fold the top section and allow from 3 to 5 cm space from backstitch. You will need a space at the top as this is where the ribbon or pom pom will go.
Step 2:
Fold the right side, close to backstitch.
Step 3:
Trim the back excess fabric that just appeared
Step 4:
Fold the other side (left) and trim back excess fabric.
Step 5:
You should now have a triangle shape flag
Step 6:
Use fabric glue or hot glue to glue all edges and excess fabric at the back of your stitched flag.
Step 7:
Place all stitched flags next to each other, leave a gap of 10 cm in between them. Once, they are lined up, use a glue gun to attach them.
You could also pin them in place before you start gluing.
